Looks like McFarlane is continuing the BTAS DC Direct line with a BAF wave with a bunch of re releases (although Robin seems to have enhanced articulation) and BAF Condiment King?

Re releasing the Batcycle too?

I've seen rumors of a BTAS Alfred release?

They're 1:12 scale, or there about. They're all up for preorder now as part of Target's Fall Geek Out. I grabbed Freeze and Scarecrow. The Condiment King is pretty cool, but I already have a Batman from this line that I like more and I've never liked how Robin turned out in this line so I wasn't paying another 60 bucks for the privilege to build Condiment King. Maybe I'll try and track down the other pieces separately at another time. I'm also hoping they re-release the BTAS version of Two-Face down the road. That's really the only other one I have to have from this line. I already have Gray Ghost, but they should re-release that one too since it's so expensive on the secondary market and that character was great.

Yeah, I was kinda bummed that they were just straight re-releases with some cel-shading too. At the very least, a new accessory or something would've been nice- would've loved to get Scarecrow's first mask. But it's a great opportunity for folks who missed them on the first go-around.

Β

It'll be nice to have Condiment King, but I hope this isn't the start of a new trend, where Todd re-releases the old figures we already have with a BAF piece for a character we're missing. Though it does make me wonder- I know there were a few animated style figures that never got released like Talon and Vampire Batman. I don't remember Condiment King ever being announced, but he looks to be in the old DC Direct style. Is Todd producing figures in that style now, or is he just releasing sculpts that were already made, even if they were never revealed?

That Batman isΒ tooΒ cel-shaded! I was really looking forward to him but that is simply too much. I want a simple black/grey animated Batman, why did they do that?

I think the Batman is intended for the Batcycle and its shaded in a manner to support that. It definitely doesn't look as good as the cel-shaded one DC Direct did at the end of the line or that McFarlane re-released in that four-pack. That Batman, while flawed, is maybe my favorite Batman figure I own because it looks so much like the show's character model. I have no idea what they're going for with the shading on Robin, he just looks weird. Why isn't the inside of his cape yellow?

I would like to see them do more BTAS takes on modern characters like they did with The Batman Who Laughs. Like Mr. Bloom, Ghostmaker, and The Talon for The Court of Owls.

I feel like an idiot spending $120+ for figures I already have to get Condiment King, but I have the entire series and I really do want Condiment King. I guess I can always cancel later…

At least Scarecrow has the alternate head so I can display him with both heads now.

Here’s what’s going to happen:Β

-Much like the Target-exclusive Batman 66 line, I skip the first wave or two, because β€˜I already have good representations of these figures’.

-Condiment King and a second Build A Fig (Red Claw?) start to get to me as time passes.

- W3 is announced with a TON of cool new stuff, including the never-released DCD Jokermobile. My resolve breaks and I scramble to pick up W1&2, at double the original price.

-By Wave 5, sales slack off and BTAS remains sadly incomplete, with variants of Batman dominating the lineups.Β

…I need therapy πŸ™‚

The idea of cell shading doesn't bother me, but I wish it wasn't so dramatic on Batman. I get that it's supposed to sort of go with the bike, but it's enough that I'll more-than-likely pass on him. Honestly, Robin is the only one that's really kind of tempting. Partly because the shading on him isn't nearly as in your face. It doesn't come with an alternate head for him, but I'd even be tempted to get the bike for him to sit on.

Yeah, I think Freeze and Scarecrow got the correct amount of cel shading. I think the Mondo figures are a good example of the correct way to do cel shading, but those are deluxe figures at a deluxe price-point. These are good enough for what they are.

Β

In regards to Condiment King, I've seen a few folks say he's based more on the McF design in regards to sculpt and articulation, but to me he looks just like the old DC Direct figures. Or am I missing something obvious? I mostly ask because I'm worried that, if he is designed more like the DCD figures, putting him together might be a bit of a pain, since those figures always felt a bit fragile.

Glad they are reissuing Scarecrow for those that missed him originally- wonder if they will also reissue the rest from the final DCD wave (Two-Face, Gray Ghost & HARDAC Batman)

I really want Condiment King and hope it leads to other never done characters like Red Claw, Rupert Thorne & Clock King to get madeΒ
