I'm curious if there are any other Canadians considering the Cat's Lair...
Super7 added a Canadian retailer (mapleandmangoes.ca), but the price is $1249.97! 50% non-refundable, and the orders close a week early (Sept 10).
On Super7's site: 650 + 350 shipping USD is around 1350 CAD; so by buying in Canada you save about $100.
The US price (650+100shipping) would be around 1000 CDN. I know shipping in Canada is expensive, but this seems like a really high upcharge.
I can afford it, but I don't like getting ripped off, which is how I would feel if there is a better price down the line. They've listed Diamond and Alliance as wholesalers, so it's possible this will show up on other online Canadian stores and maybe for better prices.
I'm mostly only collecting Thundercats these days, so I can splurge occasionally on something like this, but I'm still on the fence.
Does anyone know any other Canadian options? Is anyone in at $1250 CAD?
I somehow missed the Ghost Jaga pre-order. Hope they have extra stock.
Seems weird to have Wave 9 scheduled to hit before Wave 8 when both are nearly a year out.
I'm not in the market for the Lair, but I'm really glad I got to see it in person. Definitely an incredible display piece that you can't fully appreciate without standing in front of it.
It does look amazing and I am thrilled it funded!
I was on the fence, but ultimately decided against it. Just don't have the space & I generally don't display my figures in play-sets or vehicles.
I am big on scale, so I can't abide "playset" dimensions. I do hope to make a friend locally who does get one, as it looks fantastic for the market price.
Man if I lived in a house with a basement I could make my toy palace that thing would be the centerpiece... but I don't so I'll have to admire it from afar.
We're down to the last pre-order day for the Cat's Lair and I still feel indecisive on it.
As everyone has said, it's just soooo big. I've been buying fewer collectibles/toys in the past few years and more downsizing and this is in a different direction. I'm just thinking of the hassle if I ever want to move or sell it.
Years back I was going to crowd fund Haslab Unicron, but in the end decided not to. When I see how big/awkward that thing is I'm always glad I didn't (even though the value has gone way up). I find the Transformers titan class figures already too big to do much with. On the other hand, because this is a playset, it's made to sit in one place, you don't have to move/pose it a lot, so effectively it's a fancy shelf.
Oh well, I guess I'll be deciding today. For any other Canadians, ecollecitbles.ca has the cat's lair (same price as it was on the other Maple and Mangoes site), but the key is no longer available.
Well I backed this today. I don't really have a spot for it but I will come up with something before it gets here or shortly after. I like to have the actual set in hand before custom making any shelves or tables for it. I'll have to do the same for the Mattel Creations Eternia when it shows up.
I also ended up backing it. I wasn't 100% sure, but I thought if I changed my mind it may be easier to find someone to sell it to than it would be to acquire after the fact. In over a year from now I'll have to decide if I REALLY want it and where I'll be able to put it.
I felt a bit guilty about getting it. I had the cash and I make OK money, but it still seems like a lot to spend on something that doesn't really do anything. I guess you have to treat yourself now and again.
@quietclaws I spent $700 on a vintage Thundercats Lair several years back. That thing is so rare. Thankfully I made that money from pulling a 1 in 28 Loyal Subjects Wun-Dar figure that I paid $13 for and turned around and sold for $1000 or I would have never done that. At least this Super 7 Lair feels worth it....I guess.
I couldn't justify it. But I have a feeling it's going to be one of those "Wish I woulda's" for me.
BBTS has the Thundertank on sale for 399. 100 off isn't bad.
Ugh. I still haven't been able to find space to display this albatross. I'm hoping my attitude lightens once I set it up. For now, though, it's just a big boxed reminder in the corner of how too much money I spent.
